IDC NEXUS 26
IDC NEXUS 26 stands as the premier technical convergence hosted by Annai Mira College of Engineering
and Technology in collaboration with the Indian Data Club and EDC Department. This hybrid hackathon
is meticulously structured to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application by
challenging students to solve pressing regional issues in healthcare, agriculture, urban systems,
and AI ethics.
Event Structure and Timeline
The competition follows a two-stage process. Round 1 is the Idea Phase where teams
must submit a five-slide abstract in PDF or PPT format through the Unstop platform by
January 31, 2026. This submission must detail the chosen problem statement,
proposed solution, tech stack, and a feasibility assessment. Following the evaluation of these
abstracts based on technical depth, impact, and innovation, the Top 25 teams will be invited to the
Grand Finale.
The Grand Finale is an intensive 24-hour buildathon held physically at the AMCET
campus. It begins on February 6, 2026, with the IDC FEST from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM,
serving as a networking and warm-up period. The core hackathon starts immediately after at 4:00 PM
and concludes on February 7 at 4:00 PM.
Note: Participants are required to pay a final registration fee of 599
Rupees per team, which covers food and on-campus accommodation.
Specialized Problem Domains
Participants must select one of the following challenges or propose a unique solution under the Open
Innovation track.
-
Healthcare and
Environment
Projects in this domain focus on the Palar River
chromium health cascade, rural diabetes prediction using voice biomarkers, tracking
antimicrobial resistance in local hospitals, mental health screening for industrial workers,
and dengue outbreak forecasting using satellite and climate data.
-
Agriculture and
Climate
Challenges involve early detection of drought stress
in mango orchards, reducing post-harvest tomato decay through logistics optimization,
managing groundwater depletion feedback loops, preventing air quality crises caused by paddy
straw burning, and developing recommendation engines for climate-resilient seeds.
-
Urban Systems and
Logistics
This track addresses grid stability for EV charging
stations between Vellore and Chennai, improving safety for two-wheeler delivery riders,
reducing traffic-related idling emissions, detecting e-commerce return fraud using AI, and
ensuring algorithmic payment fairness for gig workers.
-
AI Ethics and
Security
Solutions are sought for verifying deepfake
political videos in regional languages, detecting UPI voice phishing scams, mitigating bias
in credit scoring for small merchants, verifying AI hallucinations in legal document
processing, and exploring the ethics of autonomous waste sorting.
Rules and Eligibility
